The family relocated out of Buenos Aires to Victoria, London as Taylor-Joy reached the age of six. Taylor-Joy acknowledged that the move had been traumatic, and refused to study English in the hope of return to Argentina. Hill House became her school of choice after Taylor-Joy was required to switch schools. In the following years, she attended Queen's Gate School, where she learned dance and participated in plays. When she was 16 she decided to leave school to pursue an acting career. Taylor-Joy was always aware her goal was to become an actor. It was when she achieved that dream, Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management, offered Taylor-Joy a modelling job.
