Awkwafina
Awkwafina is an American actor and performer who started her career through clever raps that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a boldly comic perspective. Her career then grew to Hollywood. Nora Lum, born in Forest Hills Queens to Chinese and Korean immigrants was her first music experience. She performed on the trumpet. In the following years, she took up traditional and hip-hop training. While in college, she focused on her studies, and then majored both in women's study and journalism. For a brief period of time, in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also available. After graduating, it wasn't until when she decided to turn her attention towards music. Her track in 2012 My Vag a response to Mickey Avalon's My Dick found viral success across the Internet eventually landing on her debut LP Yellow Ranger in 2014. The album also featured hit songs that went viral, such as the body-positive Queef and winking hometown tour NYC BitcheUSD. The latter song was linked directly with another Awkwafina project NYC a travel guide published in 2015. Alongside being a published author, her other career was as a singer. Her film credits include films such as Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land breakthrough roles in a handful of high-profile films such as Dude Ocean's Eight and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
