LeBron Raymone James Sr. is an American professional basketball player that plays for the Los Angeles Lakers in the National Basketball Association. Nicknamed King James he is widely considered one of the greatest athletes of all time. He is often compared to Michael Jordan in debates over the greatest basketball player in history. James has won four NBA championships as well as four NBA MVPs Three All-Star MVPs, as well as 2 Olympic medals. James is an NBA All-Star and has the highest number of playoff points. He also has the second-highest point total, and the seventh highest career assist total. James has been named to be an NBA All-Star 18 times to the All-NBA Team a record 18 times, and was named to be named to the NBA All-Defensive First Team five times. He was the third player to participate in NBA Finals. Eight of those were consecutive from the year 2011 until 2018. James was chosen to be part of the NBA's 75th Anniversary Team for 2021. He was the NBA's first player with 10,000 points, rebound and assists in 2022. James played basketball for St. Vincent St. Mary High School in Akron Ohio, where he grew up. Media across the country portrayed James as a future NBA star. To prepare for the pro game it was his team, the Cleveland Cavaliers chose him as the number one overall pick in the NBA draft of 2003. He was named the 2004 NBA Rookie of the Year, he soon established himself as one of the top league players, winning the NBA MVP Award in 2010 and 2009. James went free agency following his failure to secure championships for Cleveland. He made the decision to leave Cleveland in order to join Miami Heat, announced on the television show The Decision, is considered as one of the most controversial free-agent moves in sports history.
